0877 SLEEP AND PARKINSON’S DISEASE: PREVALENCE IN AN OUTPATIENT MEXICAN CLINIC

Abstract Introduction Sleep disturbance in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) is highly prevalent. PD the second most common progressive neurodegenerative disease, affecting about 1% of people over 60 years. Little it's said sleep disorders this which are very frequent and frequently underdiagnosed. In Mexico, there not a lot studies on their population. University Hospital Dr. José E. González having only Parkinsons' clinic northeast Mexico for population without medical coverage, has recognized importance unreported broad patient Methods Patients outpatient whom query wasn’t sleeping disorder were screened using following clinical tools: Pittsburgh Quality Index (PSQI), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), STOP-BANG Questionnaire, Epworth Scale. A full history was also taken, focusing habits risk factors that could contribute to difficulties. Results total 65 (26 females, 39 males) attended Parkinson’s disorders. Fifty-nine (90.7%) identified at least 3 obstructive apnoea questionnaire ordered polysomnography. Using PSQI we 56 (86.1%) low-quality (defined as score 5 or higher). With PHQ-9 41 (63%) high depression, none them receiving treatment. And Scale helped us identify 33 (50%) possible pathological excessive daytime sleepiness, diagnosed. Conclusion associated multiple disorders, commonly impair quality life. Routine inquiry problems from healthcare providers can increase its detection setting outside better management. Further research should focus improving screening diagnostic tools initiative, present our experience results incorporating routine these future exploration toward direction may hopefully shed light developing effective, mechanisms-driven treatment options.
